Resorts World New York City has commenced construction on the second phase of its integrated resort development. The project launch marks the start of building new hotel facilities, an arena, and a sports complex at the venue.

The $5.5 billion project will add a 400-room hotel tower to the existing Hyatt Regency, alongside 1,200 additional rooms under the Crockfords brand. Construction also covers the Kenny "The Jet" sports and media complex, a 7,000-seat multi-purpose arena, a central plaza, and a new parking garage.Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, executive chairman of the Genting Group, confirmed that the company is running ahead of schedule. "Not only are we keeping every commitment we made in our proposal to the state, but we are running well ahead of schedule in starting to build outside of our existing building," he said.
The venue originally opened in April, with a second floor launching recently to add 1,400 slots to the casino floor. Robert DeSalvio, president of Genting Americas East, noted that tax and racing support payments rose by over 30 percent compared to the same period last year. The facility paid $170 million in casino taxes and racing support during its first 12 weeks of operation.
